Overview of Canadian Business Immigration

A business opportunity. An immigration strategy.

Starting, acquiring or expanding a Canadian business requires a realistic plan. Explore how your experience, resources and goals fit the available immigration routes.

Provincial entrepreneur pathways

Some provinces offer business immigration pathways involving active management, eligible investment and economic benefits. Requirements differ by stream. Selection, business implementation and performance requirements may precede nomination and a federal permanent residence application.

Entrepreneur work permits

Some entrepreneurs may qualify for an LMIA-exempt work permit where the proposed activity meets the relevant significant-benefit requirements. A temporary work permit does not itself grant permanent residence. Your intended stay and future immigration options must be assessed separately.

Business expansion and transfers

We assess the corporate structure, proposed Canadian activities and role of the person moving to Canada to determine whether an applicable intra-company transfer or treaty-based category fits the facts. Incorporation alone does not establish eligibility.

Québec business pathways

Québec has a separate selection system. Language, financial and business requirements depend on the selected stream. Any representation is subject to applicable professional authorization.

What we discuss in your consultation

Your management background, available investment and source of funds, business concept, intended province, family plans and timeline. We identify routes to investigate, conditions that may prevent eligibility, and practical next steps.

Buying a business does not automatically qualify you for a work permit or permanent residence. Program availability and individual eligibility must be checked before you commit funds.
